CHAIRPERSON'S ADDRESS
"One day, there will be no borders, no boundaries, no flags, no passport and the only passport will be the heart"
Dear Delegates,
It is my honor to welcome you to the Economic and Social Council at The Global Unition 2014 as the chairperson. The ECOSOC serves as the central forum for discussing international economic and social issues, and for formulating policy recommendations addressed to member states and the United Nations system.
"In this global economy, no jobs are safe. High-speed internet connections, and low-cost skilled labour overseas are an explosive combination."-Bob Taft, former governor of Ohio. It gives great pleasure to chair this committee, the agenda of which is Globalization and as this committee is a futuristic committee it gives us all a great opportunity to explore our imagination, spontaneity, adaptability and topic-grasping skills to its fullest. As mentioned before, as this committee is a futuristic committee each country will have its shares of developments and setbacks resulting to its share of need to continue or stop globalization. Following the path of leading economists of today, who suggest India, China and other countries of the sort, where globalization can observed to great extents, being the leading economies of tomorrow while countries like USA who maybe do not want globalization due to its job crisis and other problems like terrorism.
Having said that, I think it also requires for me to say that this committee will not only concentrate on individual country advantages and difficulties but also, and especially concentrate on the problems and advantages that globalization poses on us as a global village. We would specially like to concentrate on topics such as terrorism, problem of labour, child labour, poverty, economic globalization and democratic globalization. As you may have understood by now delegates, there is a lot of research is to be done on the topic, especially because we will be discussing this on a futuristic note and the success of the committee will depend on you.
